Blonde Beauty Icon Martha Stewart
This came as quite a shock to me BUT did you know homemaking queen Martha Stewart used to be a fashion model?!?! One of my oldest and dearest friends was just featured on The Martha Stewart Show yesterday, making crafts and treats for Halloween. She invited me to hang with her backstage and be part of the live studio audience. Walking through the backstage catacombs of Martha's Chelsea studio, I discovered an entire wall of her old black and white modeling shots. I was amazed! Originally from New Jersey, Martha started modeling when she was still in high school for various upscale NYC department stores as well as TV commercials and print ads. Working for magazines like Glamour and Mademoiselle during the early 60's is what paid her college tuition. Her modeling career was boosted even further when Glamour magazine voted her one of America's 10 best dressed college students in 1961. Of course the rest is history; she went on to become a multi-millionare business magnate, author and TV personality. See! You can bake, be a homemaker and still be beautiful, blonde and fabulous!!
