Lil' Blonde Darling: Dale Bozzio!

Blonde (and pink) Beauty Icon Dale Bozzio

Ok, so she wasn't always all blonde, but Dale Bozzio was FIERCE and her extreme sense of style is extraordinary! She got her start as a bunny at the Playboy club in the 70's and later appeared nude in Playboy and Hustler. She then made the obvious career choice and turned to music, forming the new wave band Missing Persons in 1980. Two years later, after recording an EP , I Like Boys, and constant touring, they were signed to a record deal and released their debut album. Their video for hit single Words, coupled with Dale's perky vocals, and outrageous hair, makeup and fashion choices made them a hit on MTV. Dale actually designed and made a lot of the the garments herself, from random household items no less! After releasing two more albums, the band broke up in 1986. She released an unsuccessful solo record in 1988, and faded into obscurity. Despite being such an extreme visual performer, she is relatively unknown with the modern generation. Get ready.....

Why am I obsessed with nude models and porn stars that become pop stars?

I believe that "skirt" is made of glass tile, plastic and electrical wire!

 Perky Pony!

Like A Dream!

Now that is seriously unbe-WEAVE-able!

Truly Outrageous!

 Neon Nights!

I never want to see my nose in photos. Lips and eyes only, please.

Yes, that IS bubble wrap!

Black vinyl catsuits, always appropriate!

1988 was a good year.

BEST song EVER!

 Frontwoman.

Leather, vinyl and rhinestones. Of course!

Ooooohhhhhhhhh!!!

.....more plastic clothing!

B & W glaMOUR!

Work!

VAMP!

She was famous for those mirrored, mixing bowl bra tops.

I'm thinking NOT a natural fibre! Aluminum foil perhaps?

Pleather Principle!

Full Metal Jacket.....or is it a breastplate?

Even though she vanished from the music scene, her style and influence is still alive and well. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery!

Dale's image clearly inspired Hasbro Toys in 1986, when they created the line of  rock star fashion
dolls and cartoon series, JEM and the Holograms. Especially in the artwork featured on the doll boxes.

In 2000, Gwen Stefani channeled a Dale inspired look
during the release and promotion of No Doubt's album, Return of Saturn.

And of course she has been a HUGE influence on my girl, Lady GaGa, who  has taken it,
turned it on it's ear and made it her own. We have Lady Starlight to thank for that. Good call!
