Lil' Blonde Darling: Sharon Stone in Basic Instinct!

Blonde Beauty Icon Sharon Stone

Nobody made watching 90's erotic thrillers more exciting than Sharon Stone! Although she had been acting since the early 80's, it was starring as psychotic blonde femme fatale Catherine Tramell in 1992's Basic Instinct that catapulted her to superstardom. Of course flashing her naughty bits in the films iconic interrogation scene might have helped too! Shot entirely in the San Francisco Bay Area, the films plot revolves around a police detective's investigation into the brutal murder of a retired rock'n roll star and his torrid romance with the prime suspect. This is one of my favorite films and it's moody neo-noir cinematography is flawless. Highly erotic and controversial when it was released, I was banned from seeing it when it was in theaters BUT caught it on late night cable soon afterwards. Sharon Stone's performance as the brilliant, bisexual ice pick wielding serial killer is chilling. The looks in this film are beyond amazing as well. Her entire wardrobe is comprised of shades of blonde; taupe, cream, beige, ivory, gold, white, champagne gorgeous. Even her makeup palette is blonde and oh so 90's! A too dark, bushy eyebrow, no blush and a peachy browbone? Speak my language! I also thoroughly enjoyed the 2006 sequel Basic Instinct 2: Risk Addiction. Yes it was bad....but oh so good!
